Manipulation (操そう作さ系けい, Sōsa-kei; abbrev. as 操) allow the user to control living or non-living things, including aura constructs.

Specialization (特とく質しつ系けい, Tokushitsu-kei; abbrev. as 特) could be broadly defined as anything that does not belong in any of the other five categories, making it the vaguest Nen type.

Emission (放ほう出しゅつ系けい, Hōshutsu-kei; abbrev. as 放) means that a user has an easier time separating their aura from their body.
